Netherlands’ Lawyers for Lawyers on its 15th year

Lawyers for Lawyers (L4L), an independent Dutch lawyer’s foundation has celebrated its 15th year of existence with a renewed commitment to strengthen its network to support human rights lawyers around the world. “This will be our main thrust for the coming years as many lawyers continued to be obstructed and threatened in the performance of their work” explained by L4L president Phon van den Biesen in a seminar to celebrate the foundation’s 25th year.  read more »

Bayan presses for release of political prisoners AFP wants peace process to fail, create distraction from corruption probe

The umbrella group Bagong Alyansang Makabayan today joined a picket in front of Camp Aguinaldo and Camp Crame to press for the release of political prisoners in light of the ongoing peace talks. A clergy-led Mindanao movement – Sowing the Seeds of Peace –welcomes the renewed talks between government and the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) today in Oslo, Norway.
