TANZA, CAVITE-Cavite mayoralty candidate Raymundo del Rosario expressed concern about the expected problems in tomorrow’s elections amidst reports of malfunctioning PCOS machines in election precints. Del Rosario particularly cited the danger of candidates not accepting defeat as they invoke the lack of credibility of the automated election. In a more positive note, he expressed confidence that the military and the police will be fair in giving protection and assistance to all candidates.
Aside from reports of malfuncitoning pcos machines, pollwatchers also reported a mix-up in the contents of election kits distributed to election officers in Tanza. Some of the materials such as pens, passwords, and CF cards assigned for particular machines and precints were found packed with a different unit.
Meanwhile in Maragondon town, Fr. Lino de Castro met with delegates of the People's International Observers’ Mission (PIOM) in cavite. De castro is the provincial chairman of the election watchdog Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV). In his meeting with PIOM delegates, the priest confessed his embarassment of how the elections in the country is being marred by fraud, cheating and violence. “I am ashamed to show to the world how we are during the elections,” said De Castro. He nevertheless expressed optmisim about tomorrow’s activity saying "We thank the lord for having elections so that we may be able to replace our leaders through a legitimate way.” In the celebration of the sunday mass, leaflets containing the “ten commandments for responsible voting” were distributed.
