What is good for people is good for the environment

As an environmentalist, I do not have much to celebrate on Earth Day. Statistics on the Philippine environment continue to be alarming with only 800,000 hectares left of our primary forests, only 3% of our coral reefs in good condition and with El Nino/climate change devastating thousands of hectares of farm lands and pushing communities to the brink of starvation.

Cordillera Day 2010: Advancing the Politics of Change

Some 5,000 delegates from the Cordillera provinces, Ilocos and Cagayan Valley regions  and Metro Manila attended the 26th celebration of the Cordillera Day. This year’s celebration, held in Baguio City  last April 25, also served as miting de avance of the Katribu Partylist-Northern Luzon. Makabayan senatorial bets Satur Ocampo  and Liza Maza joined the celebration.
