Last December 29, 2010 family and friends gathered to celebrate the 57th birthday of Leonardo Co, a Filipino botanist slain by the Philippine military along with Julius Borromeo and Sofronio Cortez. They were shot at and killed by the military last November 15, 2010 in Manawan-Kananga Watershed in Leyte while conducting biodiversity research.
