Mendiola last October 28 denouncing the continued human rights
violations perpetrated against activists and women under the new
administration of President Benigno Aquino III. The rally
commemorates the historic protest led by Filipino women on the
same day in 1983 against the Marcos dictatorship. The series of
militant actions led to the formation of Gabriela.
