Environmentalists push for pro-people Mining Bill

A multi-sectoral rally led by the Kalikasan People's Network for the Environment was held in Mendiola this morning, March 3, calling for the scrapping of the pro-plunder Mining Act of 1995 and pushing for the passage of the People's Mining Bill, a House Bill filed by progressive partylist representatives led by Bayan Muna in congress. The bill aims to stop the wanton plunder of the country's resources by foreign mining corporations. The protest action was participated by church groups, indigenous people's organizations, youth and students, scientists and environmentalists.
